Your free Will writing service

The best way to write or change a Will is with the help of a solicitor. Getting professional support ensures your Will is written properly and is legally binding. Having a Will in place is the only certain way to ensure your wishes are carried out and your loved ones are taken care of. We’d like to make writing a Will as easy as possible for you.

Like many charities, Versus Arthritis contributes to a Will writing service so that our supporters can receive a basic Will for free.  This also gives us an opportunity to tell more people about the difference gifts in Wills make to our work. The more Wills that are made through these services, the more gifts are generously left to support people with arthritis.

When using our service, there is no obligation to leave us a gift in your Will but of course, we hope you choose to.

National Free Wills Network

We have partnered with the National Free Wills Network to connect you to solicitors in your local area. Using our offer, you can receive a simple Will free of charge with the assurance of meeting and writing your Will with a trusted solicitor.

When writing a Will with the National Free Wills Network:

  • Your basic Will is free and the contents are confidential.
  • You can meet face to face with a local solicitor at a time that suits you.
  • Your partner or spouse can use the service as well and have their Will written at the same time.
  • Some solicitors offer home visits or online appointments if you are unable to travel (this may incur an additional fee)
  • Your solicitor can answer any questions you may have before proceeding.
  • The service is available in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

If you would like to have your Will written or updated for free, the process is really easy.

  1. We can refer you to the Network at any time, we just need your name and address.
  2. The Network will send you an information pack including a list of participating solicitors in your area.
  3. When you are ready, you can contact your chosen solicitor and make an appointment.
  4. Meet with your solicitor and have a basic Will written for free. If your affairs are more complicated, your solicitor will discuss any additional charges before you proceed.

"I have two daughters and four grandchildren. The legacy I would like to leave to them is that they do not have to endure the pain and difficulty of osteoarthritis – it will become a thing of the past." Terry
