Costing for PPIE

It’s important that your budget accurately reflects your involvement and engagement plans, with adequate resources allocated.

  • It is best practice to provide honorarium payments to PPIE members for their time on projects. We recommend using NIHR rates as a benchmarking for your costings.
  • Consider costs for carers if required, venue hire, refreshments, advertising, external facilitators (if needed) and any training and learning requirements.
  • Budget for accommodation where necessary.
  • Think ahead and cost in dissemination. For example, integrate Open Access costs for your published papers.
  • Various forms of media can help explain research findings, so this would be the time to add in video production costs.
