A Closer to a Cure Tribute Fund is a unique online area dedicated to the memory of your loved one. With a Closer to a Cure Tribute Fund, you can express your feelings and celebrate your loved one’s life in ways that are right for you – using words, pictures, music and even video. It’ll be there whenever you need the comfort of reading the messages friends and family can leave, or if you want to add a new memory, message or picture of your own.

Create your Closer to a Cure Tribute Fund through our partner, bereavement charity Muchloved. Choose ‘Create a Tribute’ and follow the simple steps.

You can choose to enable donations to Versus Arthritis when you create your tribute fund. A ‘Donate’ option will appear on your tribute page. You can make gifts into your Closer to a Cure Tribute Fund whenever it feels right – perhaps to mark a significant event or anniversary. And friends and family can make gifts in memory too, or perhaps take part in a sponsored event in tribute. Your support and fundraising efforts are invaluable to us. Every pound you raise in memory of your loved one will fund life-transforming research across the UK, to stop arthritis from stealing the quality of people’s lives forever.

Muchloved will host your tribute fund for free for 10 years.

You can test your Closer to a Cure Tribute Fund for up to two weeks without committing to keeping it. During this time, you can start to add photos and other information. Your tribute fund will display as a ‘Trial’ site.

You can upgrade to keep your tribute fund hosted free for 10 years at any point during the trial.

Your Closer to a Cure Tribute Fund can be kept private, but you can choose to make it public and allow other people to contribute their memories of your loved one if you wish.

When you first set up your tribute fund, you’ll be asked whether you wish to share your details with Versus Arthritis. By agreeing to this, we’ll be able to contact you to say thank you and keep in touch regarding the progress of your Closer to a Cure Tribute Fund.

You can choose to enable donations to Versus Arthritis when you create your tribute fund. A ‘Donate’ option will appear on your tribute page.

Anyone wishing to make a donation will be directed to the secure online donate page.

All donations will immediately appear on your tribute fund, along with a running total and any messages left by your donors.

Use the ‘Invite Manager’ tool on your tribute fund to email invitations to friends, family and colleagues to visit your tribute fund and make a donation.

You can add a personalised message to your fund about why you’re fundraising in memory and set a fundraising target if you wish.

It’s up to you to choose whether you want to fundraise from just close family and friends, but if you want to let more people know about your tribute fund you can add the webpage address to social networks such as Facebook and Twitter.

Yes. All donors are asked to sign a Gift Aid declaration during the donation process.

The donation has Gift Aid reclaimed automatically on your behalf, adding approximately 25% on top of each donation to your Closer to a Cure Tribute Fund.
