Mary's story
I have only been a Research Partner for a short time (6 months) but I already feel very involved. I am part of the Musculoskeletal Research Advisory Group, and I have attended a conference on Osteoarthritis. I was made to feel an important part of these meetings and that my contribution was welcomed. I feel I am still learning, which is no bad thing, about the structure of Versus Arthritis, and still finding out new things which I enjoy.
The keeping in touch sessions online are a support and the staff are encouraging. I feel I can ask any question but most importantly I feel my views are valued, even though I am often talking to highly qualified medical professionals.
My personal circumstances are not easy, like many of my fellow Research Partners, as I have both Osteoarthritis in my neck and wrists and Osteoporosis. I have had 2 knee replacements which have been brilliant and leave me generally pain free in my knees at least. I am interested all areas of Versus Arthritis work and I try and read as much as possible about new research which I hope will benefit the many people who suffer.
Although this is only the beginning of my journey with Versus Arthritis, I hope it will be interesting and enlightening.
