Improving Relationships Between Industry and Patient Organisations
In 2022 we initiated a project to understand more about how pharmaceutical companies are working with Patient Organisations in the UK. We wanted to understand how this manifested across the medicines development process, and how this could develop in future. The aim was to support not only our plans to work with industry, but also others in the sector.
The project involved a literature review, survey of pharmaceutical companies and a workshop. All of this was overseen by a steering group consisting of patient organisations, people living with health conditions and representatives from the pharmaceutical industry.
The culmination of this work is a report and recommendations for future, which were launched on 6th July 2023.
The project was funded by Versus Arthritis with contributions from Parkinson’s UK and the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. The patient engagement company, MediPaCe, gave pro bono support for the literature review and the development, launch and analysis of the survey.
