Versus Arthritis can announce that Her Majesty The Queen will be our Royal Patron, having previously held this role under her title of the Duchess of Cornwall.

Deborah Alsina MBE, Chief Executive of the charity said: “On behalf of Versus Arthritis, I am truly delighted to share that Her Majesty The Queen will remain our Royal Patron, championing the needs of the 10 million people in the UK with arthritis.

"She has long helped shine a light on the impact of arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions and has been a strong supporter of our transformative research and services."

“The Queen's own mother struggled with osteoporosis for years, so she understands first-hand the devastating impact that arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions can have on people's lives.

"I would like to thank Her Majesty The Queen for her continued support, which will be vital in meeting our vision for a future free from arthritis."

Kate Tompkins, Chair of The Board of Trustees, added “We are thrilled that Her Majesty The Queen will continue her valuable commitment to Versus Arthritis. This will mean so much to many in the arthritis community.

“We look forward to continuing our long association and to inviting Her Majesty to see more of the impactful work the charity delivers.”

Most recently, Her Majesty The Queen hosted our  ‘Women in Research’ evening at Clarence House, which brought together some of the incredible women working in research to help people living with arthritis.

Previously, the then HRH Duchess of Cornwall visited the pioneering  Arthritis UK Centre for Adolescent Rheumatology – the first of its kind in the world – established to improve the wellbeing of young people living with arthritis.

She not only delighted the young people with her appearance at their bedside, but also took time to see first-hand the vital research being done to understand how and why arthritis affects teenagers.

On behalf of all people living with arthritis, our researchers, volunteers and staff, we would like to thank Her Majesty The Queen for her continued support.
